Key Concepts

What We See from a Window

When you travel by train or bus, you can see many interesting things from the window. In the countryside, you see green fields, trees, rivers, and animals. In cities, you see tall buildings, busy roads, and many people. As the train moves, the things outside seem to move in the opposite direction. Close things seem to move fast, while far-away things seem to move slowly.

Changing Landscapes

During a long journey, the landscape keeps changing. You might start from a flat area with rice fields and move through hilly areas with tea gardens. You might cross bridges over wide rivers and pass through dark tunnels in mountains. The colour of the soil changes from brown to red to black. Each area looks different and has different plants and crops.

Farms and Crops

From the window, you can see farms where different crops grow. Rice fields look bright green and are filled with water. Wheat fields are golden when ready to harvest. Sugarcane fields have tall plants. Tea gardens are found on hillsides. The type of crops depends on the soil, water, and climate of that area.

Settlements Along the Way

As you travel, you see different types of settlements. Small villages have a few houses surrounded by farms. Towns are bigger with markets and schools. Cities are very large with factories, malls, and many vehicles. Some houses have tiled roofs, some have flat concrete roofs, and some have thatched roofs made of straw.
