Key Concepts

Mr Nobody (Poem)

Mr Nobody is a funny character in this poem. Whenever something goes wrong in the house — a broken plate, a torn book, muddy footprints on the floor — everyone blames Mr Nobody. But Mr Nobody does not really exist. The poem is funny because it shows how children sometimes do not take responsibility for their actions and blame an imaginary person.

Curlylocks and the Three Bears (Story)

Curlylocks is a little girl with curly hair. She walks into the house of three bears when they are not home. She tries their porridge — the first is too hot, the second is too cold, and the third is just right, so she eats it. She tries their chairs — the first is too big, the second is too medium, and the third is just right, but it breaks. She tries their beds — the first is too hard, the second is too soft, and the third is just right, so she falls asleep. When the bears come home, they find Curlylocks and she runs away.

Moral of the Story

We should not go into someone's home without permission. We should not use other people's things without asking. Curlylocks entered the bears' home without being invited and used their things. We should always respect other people's property and ask permission before using anything that belongs to someone else.

Size Words

This story uses size words. Papa Bear is big. Mama Bear is medium. Baby Bear is small. The porridge bowls, chairs, and beds all come in three sizes: big, medium, and small. We use these words to describe and compare things.
