Key Concepts

A Smile (Poem)

This poem tells us about the power of a smile. A smile is free but it is worth a lot. When we smile at someone, they feel happy. When someone smiles at us, we feel good too. Smiling is like sharing happiness. A smile can make a sad person feel better. The poem encourages us to smile more and spread joy.

The Wind and the Sun (Story)

The Wind and the Sun have an argument about who is stronger. They see a man walking on the road wearing a coat. They decide to have a contest: whoever can make the man take off his coat is the stronger one. The Wind blows hard, but the man holds his coat even tighter. Then the Sun shines warmly. The man feels hot and takes off his coat. The Sun wins the contest.

Moral of the Story

The moral is that kindness and gentleness are more powerful than force and anger. The Wind tried to use force but failed. The Sun used warmth and gentleness and succeeded. In our life too, we can get better results by being kind and gentle instead of being rough and angry.

Weather Words

This chapter helps us learn about weather. The wind blows and makes things move. The sun shines and gives light and warmth. When the wind blows hard, it is called a storm. When the sun shines bright, it is a sunny day. Other weather words include rain, clouds, snow, and fog.
