  • Read a clock to tell the time to the hour

Key Concepts

Day and Night

Each day has two parts: day and night. During the day, the sun shines and it is bright outside. We go to school, play, and do our work during the day. At night, it is dark. We eat dinner, rest, and sleep at night.

Days of the Week

There are 7 days in a week. They are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. After Sunday, Monday comes again. The days keep repeating in the same order every week.

Daily Routine

We do different activities at different times. In the morning, we wake up, brush our teeth, and have breakfast. During the day, we go to school and study. In the afternoon, we eat lunch. In the evening, we play. At night, we eat dinner and go to sleep. Events happen in an order, one after another.

Reading a Clock

A clock has two hands. The short hand shows the hour. The long hand shows the minutes. When the long hand points to 12 and the short hand points to a number, that tells us the hour. For example, when the short hand points to 3 and the long hand points to 12, it is 3 o'clock.
