Key Concepts

Zoo Manners (Poem)

This poem teaches children how to behave when they visit a zoo. We should not tease the animals. We should not throw food or stones at them. We should not put our hands inside the cages. We should watch the animals quietly and enjoy seeing them. Animals have feelings too, and we should treat them with respect and kindness.

Funny Bunny (Story)

Funny Bunny is a rabbit who loves to play tricks on other animals. Bunny is funny and makes everyone laugh. But sometimes Bunny's tricks go too far and upset others. Bunny learns that being funny is good, but we should not hurt anyone's feelings. Being kind is more important than being funny.

Animals at the Zoo

At a zoo, we can see many animals from around the world. Lions and tigers are big wild cats. Elephants are the largest land animals. Monkeys swing from branches and are very playful. Giraffes have very long necks. Penguins walk in a funny way. Peacocks have beautiful feathers. Each animal is special and amazing.

Good Manners

Good manners are important everywhere — at home, at school, and at the zoo. We say "please" when we ask for something. We say "thank you" when we get something. We do not shout in public places. We do not push others. We wait for our turn. Good manners show that we are respectful and kind.

Being Kind to Animals

Animals are living beings just like us. They feel pain, hunger, and fear. We should be kind to all animals — pets at home and animals at the zoo. We should not hurt them or scare them. We should give food and water to animals near our home. Being kind to animals makes us good human beings.
