तुम कितना उठा सकते हो?

Learning Objectives

  • Compare objects as heavy or light
  • Understand the idea of weight and weighing
  • Learn to use a simple balance to compare weights
  • Estimate which objects are heavier or lighter
  • Order objects from heaviest to lightest

Key Concepts

Heavy and Light

Every object has some weight. Some things are heavy and hard to pick up, like a bag full of books. Some things are light and easy to carry, like a feather or a paper. We compare things to decide which is heavier and which is lighter.

Comparing Weights

We can compare the weight of two things by holding one in each hand. The hand that goes down more is holding the heavier object. For example, hold a stone in one hand and a cotton ball in the other. The stone is heavier, so that hand goes down.

Using a Balance

A simple balance has two pans. We put one object in each pan. The pan that goes down has the heavier object. The pan that goes up has the lighter object. If both pans stay at the same level, both objects weigh the same.

Ordering by Weight

We can put objects in order from lightest to heaviest. For example: feather, pencil, apple, book, school bag. The feather is the lightest and the school bag is the heaviest. This ordering helps us understand weight better.

Carrying Things

We carry different things every day. A school bag can be heavy if it has many books. We should not carry too much weight on our back. It is good to carry only what we need.

Important Terms

  • Heavy: Having a lot of weight, hard to lift
  • Light: Having very little weight, easy to lift
  • Weight: How heavy or light something is
  • Balance: A tool with two pans used to compare the weight of objects
  • Heavier: More weight than another object
  • Lighter: Less weight than another object

Quick Revision

  • Heavy things are hard to lift; light things are easy to lift
  • Hold things in your hands to guess which is heavier
  • A balance helps us compare weights more accurately
  • The pan that goes down holds the heavier object
  • We can order objects from lightest to heaviest
  • Do not carry too many heavy things in your school bag
